BIG UNS

There’s a maximus swell headed for most of Europe’s coasts, as indentitifed by the large deep purple blob on the Atlantic WAM charts, and people are getting excited.

SE has been on the road a little bit of late, we went over to Mainland Mexico and more recently to Portugal. Portugal is a great country with great surf and nice people. The boys checked a few spots like Club Jamaica from the carpark, but ultimately scored the best sesh at majestic Ericeria pointbreak Coxos.

Portuguese surf champion Jose Gregorio helped us get off the rocks and into a couple of sweet ones out at his local.

I went round to Laurent Pujol’s yesterday for a cup o tea and we checked out the ocean motion on the web. Pepe’s just monitoring the swells, weighing up the odds of where to go. There’s talk of heading back to Portugal to surf the crazy left featured in SE51, there’s also talk of Belharra (here in the Basque Co) depending on the wind, as well as several other potential spots. There’s also two big swells heading to Hawaii, where Pepe flies to in about a week. Keep an eye on this weekend’s action, don’t be too surprised if we see more European XXL nominations coming out this winter.

Meanwhile, SE’s correspondants are having a whale of a time in Hawaii. Laurel’s staying with the Reef Europe team and having a blast while Timo’s been billeted with Jeremy and the Young Guns, and recently reported in from Maui’s Honolua Bay. In the connies, Aritz did amazing to earn 5th at Haleiwa and get 5th on the QS, while Zarautz bro Hodei Collazo got a perfect 10 with a good tube at Sunset yesterday, cuz.
