Sage Erickson and Johanne Defay’s QF at the Swatch Women’s Pro Trestles was put on hold yesterday when a 6ft shark of undetermined species breached just outside the lineup.

“We actually had a shark spotted just behind the line up,” said Women’s commissioner Jesse Miley-Dyer. “We’ve sent the lifeguards in to assess the situation and they’ve actually determined the animal’s not there.”

After the excitement, the women’s surfing resumed, and the Quarters completed, with the Semis lining up as Sage vs Tyler and Nikki VD vs Steph.
