Gaspard Larsonneur Protests To Get There
Gaspard Larsonneur strikes us as the kind of guy who used to protest a lot as a child.
“The first ever surf video I watched when I was a little boy was shot in Mentawai, and I remember telling my parents that I wanted to go there once in my life.” No doubt he asked his parents if they would take him there; no doubt he protested when they said no.
But Gaspard knew he had what it took to get there, and so he never stopped protesting — taking not to the streets but to the wave face, and later to the skies — until….. well, until he got sponsored by Protest and they took him to the Ments!
“When Protest called me about the trip to the Mentawais, I felt like a child again: I had just been told that my childhood dream was about to become reality!!”
“When I got there, it was exactly as I had imaged the surfer’s dream life to be: you’re on a boat, the sun is shining, the waves perfect, you are with your buddies… you cannot dream of a better surf trip.”
Sounds horrid, right?
“You surf all day, you sleep, in the morning you wake up and the boat has moved to another spot during the night, all you need to do is jump in the water and enjoy! For sure it’s my best surf trip ever… I want to go back there every year!”
Also with Gaspard on the boat were Oli Adams (another inveterate dissident), Yannick De Jager, Tristan Guilbaud, and Jatyr Berasaluce.
