Size Matters
The 3rd Edition of Wavefinder UK & Ireland is out now. It does actually fit in your back pocket as they claim. I managed to shove a mobile, three biros and a Sony MiniDV tape in their too, which felt a bit weird. It’s definitely worth considering, for its size alone. The most comprehensive guide to the surfing beaches of the UK and Ireland is now available in a new, full colour, third edition.

Roughly the size of an iPhone, Wavefinder UK & Ireland may be small but it crams in a huge amount of detail into the 312 pages – a combination which has seen the title selling 30,000 copies worldwide to date.

The book combines inspirational photography with a wealth of practical information about where and when to surf. More than 450 individual surf spots are described, backed up by over 300 Surfer’s Eye™ maps which give a visual overview of each beach.

Edited by Wavefinder-in-chief Larry Blair, the book draws together the experience of over 100 contributors from throughout the UK and Ireland – each selected for their specialist knowledge of their local area.

The content is organised geographically, with listings broken down into countries, then regions, with each spot featuring a written description and Surfer’s Eye™ map. A series of icons give information on the best tide, swell and wind conditions.

Stunning full-colour images are drawn from the ranks of the UK’s hardy surfing photographers, including: Tony Plant, Peter Adams, Jordan Weeks and Jim Michell.
