THREE SURFERS DIE OFF CORNISH COAST IN SW ENGLAND

As reported on BBC and other news websites, three surfers have been reported dead after getting into trouble at Mawgan Porth, just north of Newquay, Cornwall.

According the the BBC News site, two men and a woman were part of a group of seven that had to be rescued by RAF helicopter. Four children were saved but the remaining three of the group later died in hospital.

Several emergency calls were apparently made around 1pm local time after the group were caught in a rip.

While most of Europe has been receiving solid swell the past few days, the Cornish coast only had surf in the 3ft range today.

More details as news of this tragic incident unfolds.
