Mick "Keg On Legs" Lowe
For ten glorious years, Mick Lowe boasted what were probably the best tits on tour. He also boasted some of the heaviest artillery, both forehand and backhand, and a keen eye for a left-hand barrel. He won in France in ’99, won in Fiji in 2002, when he finished the year in a career-high 6th place, and in 2004 beat Slater, then AI in the final, to win the Gold Coast Pro, a contest no other goofyfoot had won until Medina’s win last year.

He loved Fiji, loved Mundaka, loved Teahupoo, loved Pipe, and excelled at all of them (watch the footage below from the 2000 Pipe Masters, where he made the final, and see if you don’t feel a slight shiver tickle your central nervous system). Aside from surfing, he derives great pleasure from fishing, cricket and rugby league, and now works in sports management as an NRL agent. His enthusiasm for beer, meanwhile, and the tapered cylindrical aspect to which that enthusiasm has no doubt contributed, earned him the delightful moniker “Keg On Legs”.
