A fresh-faced Owen Wright tore a hole in the WCT field in the event’s 2009 debut as the The Search, as a wildcard, eventually bursting his eardrum in a QF vs Damo Hobgood, getting carted off to hospital mid-heat, but still getting through!

Due to the injury, Owen couldn’t surf his Semi vs Mick who got a walk-thru to the final, which he won (he was also in the hunt for the 2009 World Title… which he won).
