For some reason the lay days in Portugal can tend to drag. In terms of freesurf options, Nazaré is pretty much always overhead and kegging, thus alurring, but it’s a wee schlep up the motorway.

Nearer to Peniche there’re the peaks around the Marriott, but whatever way the pro’s decide to get their freesurf on, there’s a bit of getting in and out of cars, bit of driving, and something of the repetitive about it, by the fifth consecutive layday.

Last year though, all that getting in and out of cars bore fruit… the freesurf video output was batshit bonkers.

From Kelly’s 540 to Brother’s Combo to the Cave sessions, the freesurfing web frenzy from last year will be hard to beat… unless of course Mick gets attacked by a sardine whilst doing a 720 on G-Mac’s SUP at Nazaré…
