A selection of the world’s best, including new World Champ Mick Fanning, will not be placing a
razor anywhere near their top lip until the first of December —
throwing their considerable clout behind the Movember
initiative.
To those of you who’ve been living in a cave, Movember is a
time when brave men grow a moustache for the whole month of
November, get sponsorships from their friends, and donate the
proceeds to the serious issues of prostate cancer and
depression.
Luke Slattery, co-founder of Movember says, “Having guys like
Mick Fanning show their support is something we could never have
even dreamed of. There have been some iconic Mo’s throughout
the surfing world and it is great to have a Movember ambassador
win the world title.
“Hopefully with the knowledge that they are raising such
extraordinary awareness for men’s health there will be many
more Mo’s in the line up over the next few weeks.”
The results can be seen at the end of the month on
worldprosurfers.com , as your favourite surfers have their
fantastic or hideous handlebars photographed for posterity in
Hawaii.
Who’ll end up looking like Magnum? A Prussian General? Fu Man
Chu? Seedy pimp? Or, egads, Freddy Mercury?
There’s only one way to find out, and that’s to make a
donation, not only will the outcome be highly comical and
slightly disturbing but you’ll also be giving to about as good
a cause as humanly possible.
You’ve only got two weeks left to make a difference, so here’s
what you can do to get involved:
1. Go to Movember.com.au
2. Type in the surfer’s name and registration number (below)
3. Proceed to donate.
