Culs Nus Beach
The new VQS season begins with the first event of the series taking place in Hossegor on the beach of Culs Nus, this weekend June the 13th and 14th 2009. Last year, more than 110 participants were present for the two days of perfect 1,2m waves on the Saturday and 1,5m on the Sunday. The three winners, Groms (PC Distinguin), Juniors (Lewis Saint John) and Girls (Anne Peres), are the three winners from the VQS Champs that took place in Anglet at the end of April, and who flew to the world finals to Newport! The level should be impressive once again this year. The event kicks off Saturday morning, June the 13th, at 8 am on the beach. According to the weather conditions and of the number of surfers, the competition will take place over 2 days.

The purpose of the “Let the Kids Ride Free” concept is to create a unique environment, not a typical contest, but more like a gathering. It is where people can come together and hang out, without all the fees, rules, stipulations, and the lack of camaraderie of a normal event. They are about giving back to local communities and making it possible for kids without sponsors or the money to compete. Kids will be able to express their talent at a local and national level and will push the next generation to become something better than the last. Yet another first brought to you by your friends at Volcom who remember to “Let the Kids Ride Free”.

Volcom Totally Crustaceous EuropeanTour 09 will start from June and will end April 2010 making stops in most European countries (France, UK, Spain, Portugal, Reunion, the Canarian Islands).

For each of the competitions there will be 3 categories: Groms for under-14 year olds; Juniors 15 – 17 years old and Men Pro-Am for 18 years old and over.

Each finalist from the VQS will qualify for the European Final in Anglet. In Anglet, the winners of each category will qualify for the world finals in Newport, California (50 000 $ of prize money this year!!!)

VQS HOSSEGOR will run following this schedule:

Saturday June 13th at 8h am:
– OPEN: we will do maximum and finals will run Sunday
– JUNIOR (born after: June 14th 1991): contest will be over Saturday afternoon.
– GIRLS: contest will be over Saturday afternoon

Sunday June 14th at 8h am:
– GROMS (born after June 15th 1994)
– OPEN FINALS
