UK Surf Pro Alan Stokes Launches New Animal Surf Academy
Local surf pro Alan Stokes will be opening the new Animal Surf Academy on Friday 20th July. Alan will be welcoming the new wave of surfers to the sea by coaching 45 local school children at a free surf lesson and day out at the ASA on Tolcarne Beach in Newquay.
'Stokesy' has carved himself a career from surfing and now spends his time travelling the world competing and surf training. This Friday he will exclusively be at the Animal Surf Academy.
School children in the South West have been invited from Penryn College and Helston School for a free surf lesson with the ASA surf instructors and Animal team rider Alan Stokes. Alan will be on hand to give the pupils hints and tips in the water, and there will then be an exclusive chance to ask the surf pro questions about his career, competition tactics, travels and for any surf advice. The RNLI Beach Lifeguards are also going to be on hand to introduce beach and surf safety on the day.
Surfing enjoys huge popularity in the South of England with 66% of the 300,000 UK surf population based in the area (BSA Surfers Survey 2007). A number of up and coming young surfers now come from the South West and benefit from the healthy lifestyle and exercise involved in participating in the sport.
The Animal Surf Academy is based in two locations, Newquay and Polzeath, giving everyone two good reasons to try surfing for the first time. The ASA runs lessons for first timers, improvers and developers and exclusive days with the Animal team riders. Alan Stokes will be back on the beach on 18th and 19th August at the ASA Rider Workshop days which will be another chance to meet and learn to surf with one of Britain’s best surfers.
