This weekend, December 9-10, the No Fear Punk Pro-Am will take place on the south side of Huntington Beach Pier. Open to surfers aged 19 and under, 96 entries are available — but they’re going fast.

“The Huntington Beach Punk Pro is filling up fast," says Britt Galland, No Fear Vice President of Marketing. “The contest is sure to sell-out, so if you want to be a part of it, be sure to enter on the event website. Don’t take your chances of signing up on the beach on Saturday morning, because chances are you won’t get in.

“If you missed the first Punk Pro-Am, which took place last June at D Street in Encinitas, California, you don’t want to miss this one," continues Galland. “We’re gaining steam and are excited about running the No Fear Punk Pro-Am this weekend in Surf City.

“The first time we produced the No Fear Punk Pro-Am, we did it as sort of a satellite, pilot program and ran it in the North County of San Diego, which is our own backyard. A number of the kids who entered the contest traveled down from the Huntington Beach area, so it’ll be cool to get up and run the Punk Pro in their backyard. We appreciate the support from the Orange County area and are pleased to launch the second-ever edition of this sucker in the OC."

The Huntington Beach-based No Fear Punk Pro-Am contest will begin with 24 pods of four surfers each (with 16 advancing). The contest will then boil down to four pods of 16 (eight advance), two pods of 16 (eight advance), and a 16-man final consisting of four, four-man heats.

As far as the purse, $5,700 available in the finals, while a genuine $100 bill will be up for grabs as a reward to the winner of each of the six pods. Do the math on that, and roughly $7,000 will be available to the 96 teenagers paddling out into the Pacific this weekend.
