After two months of video entries and two weeks of umming and aahing, the final top 16 of the Hurley Pro Video Trials have been decided. The panel of judges who determined the cut featured Rob Machado, Bob Hurley and Pat O’Connell.
“I was really impressed by the level of entries,” said Pat O’Connell. “We had to make some tough calls for the last few spots, but the ‘judge each wave’ system made our decisions easier. It’s now up to the public to decide.”

So starting July 29th, Hurley are leaving the rest to you to determine this year’s wildcard entry. However, as you will have noticed there’s a draw, so it’s a little more complex than just voting for your favourite video part and being done with it.
Heats will be man-on-man format, pitting one surfer’s two waves against another’s. Starting July 29, Hurley will run one round a day. The videos with the most votes per heat will advance to the next round. So if you really want to see your fave surfer through to the podium you’ll need to return every day for 4 consecutive days to cast your vote. The Final will be held Thursday, August 1st and this is where the voting goes down: Hurley Pro Video Trials.
