etnies has signed Jamie O’Brien to its surf team! Known for his creative approach to surfing, Jamie was one of the youngest pros to win a Pipeline Masters contest ever. While he’s currently one of the most accomplished big wave surfers in the world, Jamie maintains a full-throttle innovative and creative style – regardless of the conditions.
Jamie will drop in switch at big pipe, sit down on his board in the barrel, stand-up natural, punt a big air, stick it and do it again. Deemed by many as a “freak” for performing the unthinkable on a surfboard with style, Jamie has accomplished a lot at the young age of 23 including: winning the 2004 WCT Rip Curl Pro Pipeline Masters; X Games 11 MVP (Puerto Escondido); being named Surfer Poll Awards: 2005 Breakthrough Performer of the Year. All while releasing two signature videos that he edited and produced himself.
“I’ve always been a fan of etnies shoes and what the brand represents,” said Jamie O’Brien. “I’m super psyched to be on the etnies’ team – the surf program is solid and I couldn’t be happier.”
“Jamie came on board right before his first heat at the WCT Pipeline Masters,” said Dave Boehne, etnies surf team manager. “He threw a sticker on his board and beat Slater, it was pretty sweet! The entire etnies team is fired up on the addition of Jamie. It’s a very exciting time to be a part of the etnies surf program. Look for some good stuff from Jamie and the boys here very soon!”
