Spain absolutely loves a fiesta in all its varied forms, so it comes as no surprise that summer surf shindigs are pretty damn popular too along the Iberian peninsula’s shores. This weekend the Cantabrian festival Cosmic Children Festival will celebrate its eighth edition with a special tribute to the legends of the national and international surf scene. Mucha fiesta!
The Cosmic Children Festival represents the past, present and future of surfing at all levels where historic figures and charismatic characters meet with professional surfers from Spain as well as some international figures and promising young surfers.
On the 15 and 16 of June, the site of Valdeareanas beach, in Liencres (Piélagos) will once again host this mythical meeting of pioneers, renowned surfers and fans of retro surf. Three generations of surfing legends from all over the country are again booked in for the cosmic weekend.
The Cosmic Children Festival is the key event for people passionate for the surfing beach culture and for everyone who wants to be part of a weekend brimming with soul-surfing, live music and beach art with loads of activities and impregnated with good vibes!
The environmental part constitutes one of the main highlights and the underlying message of the festival. The location of the Valdearenas beach, framed by the Dunas de Liencres Natural Park, emphasises the organisation’s ecological efforts. Surfrider Foundation Europe will also be present at the event and ensure the protection and promotion of the coast environment.
More details and the complete programme activities of the Cosmic Children Festival 2013, registrations for the beach festival and ticket sale for the concerts held at Escenario Santander will be available on the event’s website www.cosmicchildren.com.
