Surfing Year Book Website in the Pipeline

Publisher Surfersvillage has announced that the much-anticipated Surfing Year Book will have its own website by the end of July. The new site will include previews of the book, to be published early in 2008, along with interviews with the publishing team, contests and the chance to win plenty of surfing goodies. Surfersvillage CEO Bruce Boal said that the new site would encourage surfers from all over the world to enter into a dialogue with the editorial team so that their voice can be heard too.

Consulting editor Phil Jarratt said: “This book is going to be the bible of surfing, an annual publishing event that all surfers will look forward to because it covers everything, from the Top 44 to the lowliest grom in Durban, Dunedin, Hossegor and Hawaii. Part of that is going to be the interaction of real surfers in real places responding to our questions on the website about what they like, don’t like… what’s important to them in surfing and what’s not. All the views we canvas on the website over the coming months will be reflected in the content of the book, along with news, results, profiles and photos from every surf centre in the world.”

The Surfing Year Book will be presented as a coffee table book priced at $US50. It will feature the work of surfing’s leading journalists and photographers, and will be the official year book of surfing’s governing bodies, the ISA and ASP.
