It was pumping down here in the Bay of Biscay yesterday and, for a change, it was the ladies who actually got to enjoy it (only because the men’s waiting period hadn’t officially started of course). The final day of the Roxy Pro scored and Aussie standout Sally Fitzgibbons won the event yesterday in Seignosse Le Penon.
It was Fitzgibbons’s first event win this season and she did it in true style, with three of the highest wave scores of the event (including a 10).
“I’m so stoked, it’s been a long road this year and I wanted to finish strong,” an ecstatic Fitzgibbons stated. “In that final we switched peaks and I was just sorting things out when I got that 10, and I couldn’t hear anything after that. I got that last good one and I was hoping it would be enough. It’s the most amazing feeling !”
Looking to the title race, event runner-up Tyler Wright (her 3rd second place this year) not only sits 200 points behind current leader Carissa Moore, making for a spectacular finish next week in Portugal for EDP CASCAIS GIRLS PRO, the final event of the year.
