RUMOURS THAT QUIKSILVER CUT SURF, SNOW AND SKATE TEAMS
Twitter and internet abuzz with rumours that Quiksilver has taken the axe to the majority of their skate, snow and surf teams.
Rumours have been flooding the internet that Quiksilver have embarked on a massive axing program, cutting the entire snowboard and skate team, with the exception of Travis Rice and Tony Hawk and trimming the surf team back to just Kelly and Dane. The rumours were started on Boardistan and in a Transworld Business article, although after Twitter went mad with the news, Transworld pulled the article.
Boardistan reported that that Quiksilver Women, the Waterman Collection, the VSTR brand and Dane Reynold's side project Summer Teeth were also set aside. The DC surf and BMX team were also said to have been cut. The editor said however that, "The details in this post have been in flux all day thanks to various sources adding and subtracting details. So far, no replies to emails sent to Quiksilver corporate PR and other contacts."
We have also been unable to verify the rumours. If untrue, the Quik PR Department needs a whole lot of water to snuff out the smoke, especially on the eve of the Quiksilver Pro on the Gold Coast. If they are true, the action sports industry has taken another huge hit. Stay tuned and we'll see if we can get to the truth of it all.
