RHYTHM ‘GIVE A TRUNK’ CHARITY AUCTION

Boardsport and lifestyle label RHYTHM, are going back to nature!

Recent years have seen a rise in the awareness of our planet, particularly towards endangered animals. However much of nature is still un-known to us. Sam Richard Tapper, General Manager of RHYTHM Europe explains, “Birds of prey are often threatened with extinction, that is why we want to support them with the Broken Bird Foundation”.

Founded by RHYTHM, the “Broken Bird Foundation” is a non-profit organisation that supports bird collection stations, which then nurse damaged and injured birds of prey back to health to be safely released back into the wild.

As a main sponsor for Wängl Tängl 2011, RHYTHM was a noticeably fresh face on the scene, and what a perfect opportunity to raise some money for the Foundation. Due this reason 8 Artists made an artwork which RHYTHM has been transformed in forefront into a trunk/ boardshort. These trunks were then exhibited and auctioned off at the Wängl Tängl ‘Optical Night’ in the RHYTHM “GIVE A TRUNK” auction.

The night was a huge success all round.  With special thanks to Henry Jackson for his unique commentating on the night and holding the guests together till the last pair of trunks were auctioned off! His energetic and cheeky manner really got the crowd into good spirits and got them digging deep into their wallets – and all just for the good of the cause… nature!

At the end of the auction, the RHYTHM ‘Broken Bird Foundation’ proudly handed a cheque for €1,550 to the good work of Thomas Weichselberger, who treats and nurses damaged and injured birds of prey within the region of Tyrol.

The guests at the auction also had the opportunity to vote for their favourite design. With only a difference of 5 votes, WICK, an artist from Kuta/Bali won the draw. Be sure to check out his boardshort design that will be included in the Rhythm Europe Summer 2012 Collection, of which 1% of the net sales will be donated to the RHYTHM Broken Bird Foundation and another 1% will be rewarded to WICK.

To support more projects of the same idea in Europe, RHYTHM will be planning future “GIVE A TRUNK” charity auctions. Get back to nature and keep posted for upcoming events. We hope to see you there!
