Remember Bra Boys that documentary released in 2007 about the notorious Maroubra surf gang and the insane wave they charged for kicks, ‘Ours’? Well, Aussie big wave nut-case Mark Mathews is apparently planning on running a new big wave event at the deadly right-hand slab sometime very soon.

While the waiting period has yet to be confirmed, April to August is apparently the best swell window for Cape Solander and the format is set to feature both paddle and tow-in surfing.

More than being just another specialty big wave event, the real appeal of watching the world’s best big wave hellmen pull into the world’s squarest pits will lie in the very real possibility of the world’s best getting pounded into the reef and washed up on the nearby rocks. Coz who can’t relate to that?!

The event is set to be invitation only (oh yeah, like you really wanted to enter anyway…) but you can rest assured that other local nutters such as Koby Abberton, Richie Vas and Ryan Hipwood will all be in attendance. Stay tuned for more info soon!
