Entrants for Raw Courage Big Wave Awards announced

Working closely with O’Neill International, the new South African website has just gone live with new type graphics and layout. ONeillSA.com showcases it’s International and South African team riders along with profiles and pictures. The site also hosts everything you need to know about the brand, its amazing History and heritage since Jack O’Neill developed the world’s first wetsuit in 1952, as well as the worlds best wetsuit range and current and forthcoming apparel and accessories going into stores in August.

The site also includes the first submissions for the Big Wave Raw Courage Awards , recently launched in by O’Neill in South Africa, with the latest entries showcasing some of the biggest waves seen ridden this winter, which have all been flooding in after the recent bout of huge swells that have been battering Cape Town over the last six weeks.

O’Neill has also upped the prize money for the winning photographer/videographer who takes the pic of the winning waves in each division, to a minimum of R1000 for all divisions, but needs to be submitted within 10 days after the session takes place. The Raw Courage Award for the biggest paddle wave, fetches a first prize purse of over R25,000, which O’Neill Brand Manager Chris Bertish says he intends to double for next year.

All submissions need to be sent to rawcourageawards@oneillsa.com and all details of the event, the gallery and rules and guidelines can be viewed on the website which is constantly updated. The O’Neill Surf Team just returned from a The Madagascar mission to explore the deepest darkest parts of the little documented, rustic Indian Ocean Island and they found plenty new spots and empty quality waves and a whole lot more, which can be seen on the site.

Other events included on the website are the O’Neill Scottburgh Pro, O’Neill SA Open, O’Neill SA Juniors and the up and coming O’Neill Cold Water Classic, to be held shortly in Cape Town, home of O’Neill head office.

Chris Bertish, O’Neill Brand Manager commented: "This is another important step forward for O’Neill South Africa, as we have numerous exiting new core projects and initiatives we are launching over the next couple of months, besides the upgrading of the Cold Water Classic, due to start on the 23rd August, in the icy waters of Cape Town, over a 4 day waiting period in some serious surf locations around the peninsula."
