Nixon WTA Kicks Off First Challenge in Tahiti

Nixon is pleased to announce the first stop of The Nixon WTA at The Billabong Pro in Teahupoo, Tahiti. The Nixon WTA is a winner-take-all event awarding a custom, handcrafted Nixon valued at $10,000 at four Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Tour stops during the months of May, July, October and December. The four different Nixon WTA challenges include: heaviest wave at Teahupoo, Tahiti, the longest wave at J-Bay, South Africa, the longest tube in Mundaka, Spain, and the overall Triple Crown Winner from the North Shore of Oahu.

“We wanted to do something that was different and included everybody on tour,” said Nixon’s Sports Marketing Manager Brandon Lillard. “With these one-of-a-kind watches up for grabs it will make the events even more interesting regardless of whether you’re knocked out in the first round or make it all the way to the main event. The WTA will add some fun and increase the stakes at the four premier stops and we are stoked Nixon can contribute to the tour.”

The 2007 Nixon WTA kicked off May 4th, in Teahupoo, Tahiti and the winner of the heaviest wave will receive a Capital Automatic, one of Nixon’s finest premier pieces from their exclusive Elite Class of watches. This custom Capital Automatic will be adorned with over 1.5 carats of black diamonds and finished off with a custom-engraved caseback making this piece one of Nixon’s most unique and detailed watches to date.
