The 7th annual Nixon Surf Challenge is due to kick off from 29 September – 1st October 2006 in San Sebastian, Spain.
A list of prestigious surfers have confirmed from the Nixon Team, such as Eric Rebiere, Benjamin Sanchis, Fabrice Gelez, Fredo Robin, Marlon Lipke, Gony Zubizarreta, Dan Ross and many more. Miky Picon will be giving up his place to Jeremie Flores who is the youngest guy to ever qualify for the WCT at only 18 years old.
Tahitian surfers Alain Riou, Michel Bourez and Hira Teriinatoofa have confirmed so some powerful Tahitian-style surfing is expected from these guys. Hira was on fire last year, taking fourth place in the final, and after his amazing Teahupoo WCT performance this year where he narrowly lost in the finals, he’s sure to be on great form in San Sebastian. Michel Bourez gained second place last winter at the junior world championship and is definitely one to watch at the moment.
Local Biarritz ripper Patrick Beven, who clinched one of the first 6 Star WQS events in Brazil this year, and 2002 contest winner Jonathan Gonzalez are expected to deliver some great surfing performances. The reserved spot for a UK surfer is predicted to go to Nixon’s latest team addition Reubyn Ash who will be in with a chance to win his share of the 10,000 prize purse.
