Quik Pro France Day 1: New Move Invented: Floater

The Quik Pro 2009 opened up on day one of the waiting period yesterday at Les Bourdaines. The Cream bank tunred on lefts in the morning around high twattle and then rights in the afternoon at low, providing more than enough canvas for the raddest surfers in the galaxy to get all nuts.

The big story was the new move that was invented here yesterday, testing the judges willingness to award new shit. The new move was the floater.

Sure, you can have your rodeo flips or whatever, but yesterday it was the floater that got the crowds all excited and hootey. There were a couple of airs (Dane, Heitor) a backhand baz (Slater), but it was big massive floaters, the loping, travelly kind that won hearts and minds in Seignosse.

Jordy Smith hoiked his massive, long haired body into a forehand float on a decent sized right that set the tone. He started it at mid morning and landed over exploding whitewash just after lunch. Joel put together some crazy wild backhand floats on the left. In fact, everyone was at it. Pretty much every surf star floated shamelessly straight into round 3, and made no apologies for it.

Kelly only got his jersey about a second before his heat started they told us (That crazy wild guy!!!!! There we were, will he show… wont he? Oh the suspence kills me!!!! Its not as if they’ve been crapping on about that for years now. Oh Kelly!)

Dane ripped the shit. He got an 8 about a second into his heat. then he got a jetski out the back and sat there for a year, watching the much maligned Nathaniel Curren going batshit with a series of vicious lip assaults. Dane answered back with his own and in doing so thrust his rusty coathanger deep inside Nathaniel’s eyeballs.

Earlier in the day Joan Duru le wildcard blew shit up in a close heat. They gave it to him for a vicious hack on a left, and the big teenage eyebrow is booked into Round 3. Patrick Beven also blazed his trail into rd 3, thank you very much. Parko, Julian Wilson and Chris Davisdon were the other heroes. These all guys all ripped uber hard. Julian went nuts on the left doing these crazy backside turns that looked like…. Dane with blond hair.

Anyway round 2 is on now I gots to get down there and watch Aritz V Mimi. Got a feeling it could be a good day for the Basques…
