As you may know we have Carlos Burle, one of the world’s best big wave surfers, blogging for us. This time however, it is tow-in partner Maya Gabeira who’s in the limelight after being named ESPN’s Female Action Sport Athlete of the Year, at their awards ceremony in LA. In a sport largely dominated by men, Maya has surfed waves bigger and heavier than many men could dream of.
