The only air strike you’re likely to come across here at the Surf Europe offices is the kind that consists of dropping Tommy Squeakers, launching air biscuits, or boosting bottom burps. In fact, we’ve been doing our best to promote a fart blanche policy on the premises for a while now.
However, the Kustom Air Strike has now been pushing a completely different variety of air strike for the last two years, an aerial surf battle offering a mega US$50,000 gees reward in a winner-take-all shootout to capture the world’s craziest punt.
The event window opened last 1st August 2008 and will end in less than 2 months now, 31st March 2009. As if 50 big ones wasn’t gonna be enough to amp aerial specialists the world-over, the videographer to record the manoeuvre also gets to pocket $US5,000.
Air strike entries are all posted on the website www.kustomairstrike.com and are judged by both the public and a select panel. Ryan Carlson and Mitch Colburn look like they’re leading the pack right now. So either get voting or paddle out and start boosting. The criteria are simple, with judges voting on height, innovation and completion of the foulest punt. In the meantime, we’ll been doing our best not to follow through!
