Judged by a panel of Taylor Steele, Kai Neville, Brad Gerlach and Chris Cote, South African Jordy Smith has been declared X-Games Gold medalist for the cracking video part he submitted  alongside 7 other invitees (Kelly Slater, Chippa Wilson, Dion Agius, Josh Kerr, Gabriel Medina, Matt Meola and Albee Layer).

“Most of my video was filmed in Africa, in Mozambique,” said Jordy. “My girlfriend Lyndall told me about this spot and I never believed her at first. I was like, “Yeah yeah, babe, just another little wave…” She ended up taking me there and I scored some of the best waves I’ve had in the last ten years, so I dedicate this one to her…”

Aussie entries from Chippa Wilson and Dion Agius took the Silver and Bronze medals respectively. The ‘Fan Favourite’ award, which saw Jordy Smith and Gabriel Medina through to the final, ended up going to the Brazilian.
