Of course Hercules has been traveling up and down the Atlantic freezing the tits off 50 American states and delivering hell and high earth to the European coasts. The latest clip comes from Tenerife, where filmaker Christian Gonzales (chrisphotossurf) got in touch saying, “Over the past few days we have been scoring a rare wave that doesn’t usually break, except in the biggest of swells. It is on the north shore of Tenerife, Canary Islands and the riders are Alexander Zirke, Vilayta, Manuel Lezcano and Daniel Bruch.”
“It needs a pretty special swell. We have surfed it five or so times before,” said Zirke today after was just coming back from another huge paddle in session on Tenerife. “All the normal spots were just closing out. And on the big day, the police wouldn’t let us leave the harbour on jetskis, but we still found a few spots during the swell. And there’s more to come.”
What he doesn’t mention is that his tow partner Vilayta (David Rodal Santiago) is a SUPer whose tow in attempts here at this mutant slab, all be it unsuccessful, are worth the admission price alone. Elsewhere in Canaries, this shot below posted by Billabong XXL showcase just how much swell was slamming into the Islands. Surely there will be more to come.
