From July 24th to 29th , the world’s best longboarders will gather in the beautiful archipelago of French Polynesia, on the island of Tahiti for a battle for both women’s and men’s European titles. The black sand beach of Taharuu, Papara, will be the location for the 4 Star WLT event and is known to offer great surfing potential on all conditions, from 3 to 8+ ft swells.
Situated on the west coast of Tahiti, the city of Papara will welcome an international field of longboarders and might witness some amazing levels of pure surfing style and action. With its typical relaxed “island-like” way of life, Tahiti matches perfectly with longboarding’s classic, smooth competitive aspects and the cocktail will definitely make this new stop on the surfing world tour a success.
World famous for its perfect crystal water barrels, French Polynesia has been highlighted in the past years by the amazing Teahupoo phenomenon, and local initiatives along with the Tahitian Surfing Federation are pursuing the development of professional surfing in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
Co-sanctionned by ASP Europe and ASP Australasia, the Tahiti Pro Longboard will be the crucial ending to the 2007 Longboarding european championships, and give another great opportunity to surfing’s legendary style.
