2007 Xcel Pro Presented by No Fear Final Day 3 is ON!

The 2007 Xcel Pro Presented by No Fear champion will be decided today, on the last and final Day 3 of competition.

A new northwest swell has moved in and should build through the afternoon, with faces currently at 4′ to 7′ this morning and light offshore winds. The final heat will paddle out at approximately 3:30 PM HST.

Today will see completion of the remaining Round 3 heats, all the way through the finals, with a champion to be crowned on the beach and presented with the oh-so-sweet $10,000 first-place prize money.

After a stunning Day 2 last Sunday, November 4, with waves and overall conditions the best they’ve been in years at Sunset Beach, less than a third of the starting 132-man field survives to battle it out for this year’s title. Watch for Roy Powers, Sunny Garcia, Jordy Smith, and more big names who have been surfing strong so far in the event. Garcia will face off in Round 3, Heat 11 against 2006 Xcel Pro winner Evan Valiere, as Valiere looks to defend his title against the 2000 world champion (and 1991 Xcel Pro winner) Garcia.

The 4-Star 2007 Xcel Pro Presented by No Fear is the only WQS contest held on Oahu’s North Shore before the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing begins in November. A talented local and international field are battling for valuable ratings points and a $75,000 total purse.
