Surf Europe: Is it true that one of your moves is called The Dog Piss?
Chippa: I don’t really know what the name of this trick is. My friend Thom Pringle
was surfing with me on the day this trick was landed. He’s is a skater/surfer and as
soon as he saw the photo the words “dog piss” came out of his mouth. I guess it’s
close to what skaters do up ramps. Google it “dog piss.”

I just googled “dog piss” and to be honest it didn’t make for pleasant
viewing, it was a load of video of lots of dog’s pissing. But anyway do you lie
in bed at night and think of new turns/airs?

When I was growing up I would lie in bed and think about it all the time. Nowadays I
think about my style and perfecting what I can do. But don’t get me wrong, I always get
in the mood and brainstorm new moves.

You must be tired all the time. Cause once you’ve lied in bed all night thinking of new moves, you must have to stay up even later and think of names for them.

I tend to lean to not calling them names and call them what they really are. As in if I did
a 360 board verial I wouldn’t name it some wacky name.

A 360 board verial sounds pretty wacky to me. Can you give us five new names
for turns that might exist in the future?
I’m not too sure, frontside flips, bigspins, board verials along with all those combos
backside will play apart in the future as far as airs go. I would love to see finger flips go
down…

Speaking of names how did you get Chippa?
Ha I’m not to sure, i think I got it from when I was a little kid. I grow up in a country town
and we always use to do stupid shit like jump out of trees into bushes and have stick
wars, so I would always have chips out of me. Maybe that’s it, if I remember correctly.
Most people call me Chippa, a few don’t.

There’s a chick in the UK who’s sister married Prince William. Her name is Pippa and she has a nice bum. If you married her you would be Chippa and Pippa. That works doesn’t it?
Uhm, maybe.

Where are you are now?
I’m in El Salvador filming for a Transworld part. Waves are fun, right points which I’m
not used to. Should be interesting.

Who are you traveling with? Who’s the most annoying guy or girl on the trip?
It’s Dillion Perillo, Nathan Florence and
myself. No one is annoying, thank God.

What’s the funniest thing that anyone has said on the trip so far?
I’m not sure, a lot of funny things have been said. I am only half way through the trip so I
am sure there’s a lot more to come.

I hope so, it sounds pretty dull. If you could be anywhere in the world right
now where would you be?
I am good where I am right now, it isn’t to bad at all! Mexico would be nice, Cancun.

Have you been to Europe and if so what did you learn there?
I’ve been there twice. The things I have learned is there is great food, great coffee,
cute girls, a big language barrier and amazing beach breaks.
