What is it? Documentary on Tom Curren’s epic 1990 contest season, which saw him come back from competitive retirement to surf from the trials and take the World Title at the final event of the year at Sunset from rivals Elko and BL. Narrated by Gerry Lopez.
Highlights: The O’Neill Cold Water Classic in Santa Cruz, Curren’s heat against a 16 year old Kelly Slater at Lacanau (Slater’s pro tour debut), everyone’s style (Elko: spike, Oakley Blades, yellow wettie and full deck grip, Curren: Wayfarers and biker jacket combo, Al Merrick: turquoise joggers) and the massive beach crowds seen back in the pre Dream Tour days when beach spectator numbers, rather than wave quality decided the venues.
Soundtrack: by Curren himself.
Length: 53 min.
