Under An Arctic Sky : The European Tour
Cinematic excellence meets Cold Water Kool Aid
Chris Burkard's much-anticipated cinematic love letter to high latitude surf adventure, Under An Arctic Sky is on tour right now in Europe.
Not taking in quite as many cities as Floyd's Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour, not selling as much merch as Lady Gaga's Monster Ball Tour, nevertheless it's a whirlwind through cities, maybe near you, where you can get a chance to let the big screen do justice to travails of Burkard and Weiland.
In the film, six surfers seek out unknown swell in the remote fjords of Iceland's Hornstrandir Nature Reserve, by boat. Departing from Isafjordur on the cusp of the largest storm to make landfall in twenty-five years, the crew are forced to decide whether or not swell chasing is worth dying for. Despite trials and tribulations, the team push on to reveal that uncertainty is the best ingredient for discovery.
Not only is the movie compelling, but there's a slide show of Burkard's work, and a chance to Q&A with surfing's most followed lensman.
