A massive 634k followers lap up Burkard’s luscious pictorial output, and you are probably already one.
Why? Because he’s done what few others have managed; making his images iconic in the sense you can kinda guess it’s his shot before you see the credit.
How? Partly in the colour correction, sure, but largely by focusing on a particular subject (high latitude/cold watery/great outdoors theme), and also perhaps by not being overly precious about online sharing and fucking about with giant watermarks and copyright signs, maybe.
Whatever it was, it worked. If you dig aurelia borealis over cobble pointbreaks, dudes grilling bacon half way up Half Dome, if you’re more John Muir than John John, Burkard’s your man.

If someone (everyone) you know who just finished art college and wants to go to Norway to make a ‘cold water surfing’ documentary to tour surf film fests with, it’s probably partly his fault.
Burkard also does TED talks, seminars and Instagatherings, which are a thing, apparently.
