Surfer Annihilated On Rocks At UK Big Wave Spot ‘The Cribbar’

Here we have a video of the UK’s premier excuse for a big wave spot, the Cribbar, which as that reputable authority on surf culture the Daily Mail will tell you can host waves in the 40ft range.

In between the 40ft sets this unfortunate soul chose to go right on a sneaky left, or left on a right, or maybe just straight on a straight-hander — straight onto the rocks in front, in fact.

Some would argue it’s an ignoble spectacle all-round. Not us!

We hope he’s OK. According to Pirate FM he’s been described as “lucky to be alive”. They also say the Cribbar “attracts experienced surfers from across the world”.

UPDATE: The BBC reports that the surfer in question was 36-year old Sean Egan from Polzeath, and that he suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs. Eye witnesses were quick to point out that Sean had been ripping prior to the mishap. We wish him a swift recovery.
