Nikki Van Dijk came third in her first round heat at this year’s Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, finishing behind pocket-sized firecracker Silvana Lima, who posted her second 10 of the year, and the ever-consistent Sally Fitzgibbons, who took the top spot. On the other hand, at least she didn’t get hit in the face with her surfboard whilst free-surfing before the heat — hence the alluring panda eyes — and then body slam into the reef during it, as though she were diving for the try-line. Because such was her unfortunate fate in last year’s contest.
