Florida is the shark attack capital of the world, not usually involving Great Whites and fatal attacks, but for sheer frequency. Yesterday, 18-year-old Ryan Shapiro was paddling out in waist-high water at Fort Pierce, a spinner shark attacked him, tearing through his wetsuit and seven tendons.
“I just felt this shark hit me so hard in the arm. It was just so scary and so real,” Ryan told West Palm Beach News and Weather.
Never heard of spinner sharks? Us neither! Word is they are small but feisty, the Joe Pesci of requins.
