Combining landscape photography and surfing in such a unique manner that his photos are instantly recognisable, Surf Europe photo contributor Chris Burkard has built much of his reputation by documenting wave riding in some of the most inhospitable locales on earth.
On a recent trip with pro rippers Patrick Millin, Brett Barley and Chadd Konig to Norway, his crew once again brave sub-zero temps in the Arctic Circle to capture some of the harshest landscapes in the natural world. The bitterly cold seas and wind might exact a large price on mind and body but it turns out that’s all part of fun.
