Aviso Surfboards announces the launch of several new board designs and adds a few new shapers into the line-up. The Company recently released three new models for purchase including a 5’9’’ Tim Patterson “Black Magic Model”, a 6’2’’ high performance Rusty rounded pin, and Cole Simler’s coveted 5’10’’ bat tail quad with channel rails. Additionally, Aviso aligned with traditionalist shaper Gary Linden for a 6’8’’ compressor design.
Rusty Surfboards will be providing a series of Kompressor models in 5’10’’, 6’0’’, and 6’2’’ sizes, a 5’11’’ high performance model, and an 8’6’’ Utility long board. Herbie Fletcher’s Christian Wach Model high performance swallow tail 9’1’’ will be in shops by early December 2006. Tim Bessell supplemented his range with a 9’3’’ long board and a 7’2’’ specialized gun model.
A 6’6’’ Doc Lausch Bat Tail Quad is scheduled for completion next month. Several other shapes continue to be in line from Aviso’s existing designers, with a much anticipated expansion of Aviso’s selection of Lost “Mayhem” high performance short boards.

Aviso Surfboards specialize in composite engineering techniques to manufacture hollow, carbon fiber surfboards. The materials and methods used are predominately known to the aerospace and defense industry, where design and manufacture of structures must be lightweight, strong, and have ideal flex characteristics to withstand intense physical forces.
Aviso pursued constructing a surfboard based foremost on increasing performance and handling characteristics while bolstering strength and durability factors by orders of magnitude. A High Temperature Fiber Placement Process allows the boards to be some of the lightest and strongest boards ever designed and produced. Nothing ties the top and bottom components of the boards together except for the rails. This enables the deck and bottom to work and flex independently.
This unique feature acts as a suspension system to launch the surfer from one turn into the next with remarkable control and momentum. Since the deck is not directly connected to the bottom, the board absorbs and stores potential energy and propels the surfer swiftly and efficiently, allowing an almost constant state of acceleration to be realized.
As of December 2006, Aviso had alliances with 12 separate shapers, offering over 33 different surfboard designs from Jeff Johnston, Tim Patterson, Cole Simler, Herbie Fletcher, Gary Linden , Matt “Mayhem” Biolos, Doc Lausch, Tim Bessell, Don Johnston, Cordell Miller, Rusty, and Dale Velzy. Aviso Surfboards uses materials and techniques that are more environmentally sound than those employed by any other surfboard maker.
