“My number one video is Young Guns 3 with Julian Wilson throwing huge airs and showing super radical surfing. Close second comes Andy and Taj in Trilogy, those guys are just amazing. Incredible technique.
Before I surf I like to listen to some Portuguese rap and hip-hop. I like the lyrics, they make me think about lots of stuff and all that energy gets me started.
Afterwards I don’t really have special moments to listen to music… As long as it’s nothing in the area of Ben Harper style (too slow), then I’m fine.
Otherwise it’s a lot of studying books, but my favourite book right now is my Uncle Tomas’ book*, “Commitment – Never Give Up” because I can see my family right there, our values, the conversations at dinner. Plus of course, I dig reading all the surf mags too.
On the box I like shows like CSI, Without a Trace, Entourage… basically any show about bright people fighting the evil with their minds and helping the ones in need. The best part is the super high tech stuff they have to find out who’s the bad guy.
My favourite movie is Blood Diamond. Because it shows how our world works… It’s all about economic power. We don’t care about people anymore; it’s just about the money.”
