Hey hey
Everything is wonderful in Fiji at the Globe Fiji pro. I’m sitting in the restaurant looking at restaurants and drinking very very expensive bottles of lager. We had a splash this morn at Cloudbreak, got the boat out there with CJ, Bobby, Wardo and Freddie P. Already in the lineup were Jordy, and Timmy Reyes. It’s been pretty sick watching the boys go mental in the headhigh cross shore waves, even if it’s not a patch on how it was for early rounds, and hopefully what it will be like sunday/monday when they’re gonna try and finish the thing.
We just got a boat to Namotu to checck the Aussie contingent, Mick, Ace, Yadin, Joel, Bede and Taj. Pretty different vibes over there from here where the Americans are, over there the boys are playing pool and ping pong together and telling each other to fuck off, whereas here it’s a bit more reserved. There was even that big guy from Bra Boys there, the one who told the story about the fight with the cops, “It was a good old fashioned punch up, and we won.”
I’m staying in the mental and massive Globe house on a nearby island which has mental views of the islands. Every morning locals walk across the reef to come to work on the isalnd. Our local bro Roni is staying with us feel really at home, all the Fijian people have been amazing, really warm welcome. Some of the women have wicked afros and they all sing and seem pretty high on life.
My eyeballs are blistering and I haven’t bruished my teeth for 4 days but other than that all is irie. We had a few drinks last night in the resort bar and watched a big crew of creepy wrinkly Kiwi yacht dudes frothing over three 19 year old backpacker chicks from the home counties.
I left a copy of the latest SE (58) in the restaurant here on Tavarua and caught one Kelly Slater reading it. Jesus, he must be bored.
Peace to men on earth!
