THE RETURN OF OWEN WRIGHT

As part of ZoSea’s supposed all-new rad world tour for 2014, the new media management team has promised to deliver a whole load of compelling behind-the-scenes insight into the world’s surf elite. With that, they aim to provide a more entertaining and viewer-friendly year on tour (even if it’s going to be tough to best last year’s title race!) while also going after a more mainstream audience. This new Owen Wight four-part ‘comeback’ series is the first example of that.

Sustaining a severe back injury at last year’s Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, the previously ranked top 10 Australian surfer and up-coming title contender was forced to take the rest of the year off. Once off the radar, we heard very little news of the powerful goofyfooter’s progress or absence from the tour. But that’s all about to change. After being allocated one of two injury wildcards for this year’s tour (Tiago Pires securing the other), Owen will no doubt be looking to come out swinging hard at Snapper in two weeks time. Here’s to hoping we see a couple more of them nail-biting match-ups against Kelly!
