The J-Bay Open will shortly be upon us — beginning the 8th July, featuring wildcard Dane Reynolds! — which means it’s time to start looking back at historic J-Bay moments of years gone by. Kelly Slater and Andy Irons enjoyed their fair share of epic finals against one another over the course of their rivalry, and this was certainly one of them; Kelly clinched it in the dying moments, and went on to wrest the world title from Irons as well, winning his first one since 1998. The quality’s not great, and the music’s a steaming heap of shite (the vid was put together by the then ASP), but it’s a pleasant amble down memory lane nonetheless.
