Jeffreys Bay fires in run-up to Billabong Pro

With the Billabong Pro J-Bay leg all set to kick off in a couple weeks now, the famed right-hand South African point has been steadily building hype thanks to a couple of firing days of swell.

The very latest news however is that the line-up had to be completely cleared for an hour or so after a Great White shark was spotted cruising the lineup, forcing everyone to return to the beach and watch epic sets roll through unridden. It’s not the first time of course, in 2003 Taj Burrow freaked out in a heat after seeing a massive shark and only last year a 73-year-old local was bitten in half by a White Pointer while snorkelling in the area.

Anyhows, none of this stopped South African Quiksilver team rippers Slade Prestwich, Beyrick De Vries, Michael February and David Van Zyl from hitting Supertubes recently as corduroy lines wrapped their way into the bay.
