Not anymore.

As you’ve probably heard, Dane and Quik have parted company as of yesterday (1st Nov), ending a 12-year relationship between the pair, reportedly worth around $3m/year more recently.

Quik’s recent filing for bankruptcy in the US has meant that they could offer/force reduced terms on Dane, something he wasn’t all that into.

What you might not have heard (but we did, via the rumour mill) is that a senior member of Quik’s top brass allegedly tried to get rid of Dane months previous to the bankruptcy, on grounds that he drank too much beer.

The rumour had it that they wanted Dane to go to rehab to get off the afternoon brewskis, and thus activate a get-out clause in his hefty contract, that Quik could use to give him the shove.

As it turns out, they didn’t need to.

That, is what Dane has in common with Amy.

But what is the difference between Dane, Christy & Linda?

Surely Dane ain’t money mad, you urge. Surely, he’d want to help Quik out of a hole by taking a pay cut, out of loyalty, a bit like when Premier League footballers get relegated but vow to stay and fight, to sell a Ferrari and go to Barnsley on a rainy Tuesday night and ‘put in a shift’.

Not for us to say.

But, whereas 90’s Supermodel Linda Evangelista said her and Christy Turlington wouldn’t “get out of bed for less than ten grand”, we did hear that Dane’s representation asked for significantly more than that (like, another zero) in order for him to appear at a recent invitational wave pool event.

Yikes!
