WESTERN AUSTRALIAN SURFER LOSES BOTH ARMS IN SHARK ATTACK

A 23-year-old surfer named Sean Pollard has lost both arms in a Great White Shark attack surfing a remote break named Wylie Bay in Western Australia. Reportedly around 150m offshore at the break only accessible by 4 wheel drive, not far from Esperence, south of the Margaret River region, the man was bitten on both arms, sustaining injuries that resulted in the loss of both.

In keeping with regional policy following attacks, the Australian Department of Fisheries confirmed that officers had caught the shark, stated as between 3m and 4.5m long, within an hour after hooks were set at Wylie Bay.
