Kelly Slater’s Outerknown Officially Launches

“Kelly Slater’s Cool-Ass New Surf Line”

It’s just launched after months of hype and speculation, it’s called Outerknown, and it’s possibly outta your price range. GQ magazine, who just published a gallery of Slater modelling the new range, has billed it “Kelly Slater’s Cool-Ass New Surf Line”, which may give you the wrong impression — “Cool-Ass” is possibly the least cool expression in the history of the English language, and yet some of the clothes actually look alright.

Go do some shopping/ogling/guffawing on the Outerknown site here. It’s fairly pricey stuff, but it’s more or less what you’d expect from a high-end fashion label, which is what the brand seems to be aspiring to. Add to the equation Kelly’s personal brand image and the emphasis on making sure the whole manufacturing process from start to finish is as sustainable as possible, and what you get is a mid-length coat made out of the finest Italian wool and worth $645. Only the men’s range is currently available, but a women’s equivalent is expected soon.
