STACKED WEEKEND FOR BIG WAVE CHARGERS

As you should all know by now, tomorrow (Saturday) has been billeted as the PipeMasters finals day, with forecasts estimating 10 to 12 foot Pipe and everything still to play for as Fanning and Kelly go head to head for the world title. Of course, with the likes of John John Florence, Jérémy Flores and CJ Hobgood still in the mix, there’s the potential for a upset at any time. With the Triple Crown title still wide open too, you can bet no one will be gifting waves away.

PipeMasters aside, the swell is looking so strong and well oriented right now there’s also been rumours the Eddie might go. But while waves could well be in the 25-foot range, it’s highly unlikely event organisers would want the PipeMasters and Eddie running so close. That said, Quiksilver have been monitoring another healthy swell set to arrive towards the end of next week.

But that’s not all of it. If you like the idea of watching the PipeMasters finals and getting wet too, a powerful 16-second North Atlantic swell set to peak at 3 metres Saturday evening should give you plenty opportunity to ramp up your stoke levels even higher. Down in the south west of France, there’s talk of a new French big wave event running, the Rip Curl Challenge La Nord.  And if that doesn’t much float your boat then of course there’s always Mundaka.
